Doing a Super Clean installation?

US/UK:

Do a super clean installation:

1) download the latest SLIMax Manager Pro, go HERE
2) uninstall the old version of SLIMax Mgr

clean_install_keep_licenses

3) you can safely delete the SLIMax Manager directory or  open SLIMax Manager directory and delete ALL folders and keep the licenses directory only – see the screenshot above)
4) install the new version by running the FULL INSTALLER as Administrator and follow instruction the first time you launch the SLIMax Manager Pro to get your license automatically
5) and then run the Auto-Updater to get the very latest software (plugins, apps, setups, etc.)

Sometime SLIMax Manager Pro needs to run as Administrator as well, read the F.A.Q.   if you have permission issue with Windows 8/8.1/10, read THIS

IMPORTANT:
DO NOT FORGET, to launch the auto-updater the first time you launch SLIMax Mgr Pro when you are prompted to do so,
Check the Plugin Bridges if you upgrade from an old version of SLIMax Manager and install them manually if needed.  PiBoSo, Reiza, ISI rFactor / rFactor2, EURO/American Truck, etc. all this simulations need a bridge to work with SLIMax Mgr Pro (all the BRIDGES are available in ..\Program Files (x86)\SLIMax Manager Pro\sli_bridges\ directory ). Check the plugin pages for more info related to plugin BRIDGE…

FRANCAIS:

How does the software cost?

  • Translate:

Why I have to make a minimum donation? and why a donation?

EKSIMRacing ask you to make a minimum donation to get your license and for using the software because building a professional-grade software take a lot of time (SLIMax Manager development started in 2009), maintaining the website, forums, domain name and hosting cost money, also, gamegear such steering wheels, pedals sets, buttons-boxes and hardware parts (switches, buttons, encoders, etc.) for testing the hardware with the manager cost money (fortunately we have some great partnerships that reduce the bill) and obviously, buying/updating games/simulations licenses cost money as well.

The software is continuously improved to give you more control on your rig and in the same time to build your setup more easily which increase greatly your immersion and gaming experience.

Ok, but why a donation?
simply because it’s all about SIM RACING PROJECT and the SUPPORT of the project by their users.
A minimum donation is required to contribute to above mentioned costs but you can also donate more to support the project and more importantly, to take part to the project. All suggestions from members are discussed in forum and implemented asap in the manager if it’s possible and consistent.

EKSIMRacing mission since all these years has been also to discuss with major simulations/games Developer Teams to improve their API ( ISI, Codemasters, Simbin, Project CARS, A.C., etc.), rFactor2 and F1 201X and GRID 2/Autosport series are some great example of improvement. And for sure, all our competitors are happy to benefit from these improvements. 😉

If you own a BU0710, Fanatec Hardware (including CSW Base v1 / v2 / v2.5, CSR, CSL, Porsche, CSP V1/V2/V3 / V3i, shiftter, Handbrake, etc.) or a Logitech G27/G29/G920 steering wheel and want to give SLMax Manager Pro a try, don’t wait, it’s FREE for using the wheel with the software alone and if you find it useful and/or want to add an USB display device or a display emulator to your rig make a donation to support the project and get your license.

A minimum contribution of $5 is required
to get your usb device or virtual display emulator license

After your donation you will be redirected to the registration page (you can also access the registration page from the Registration Help) to create your support account,

You can access freely to all documentation, FAQ, video tutorials and the public part of the software support forum in read only mode.

As soon as you created a support account, you get a read / write access to all software support forums, exclusive information and exclusive content (like beta software, VDASH-EMU texture packs, EMU Custom templates, tips and tricks,… ).

Permission issue, I can’t save config files, settings are not persistent or not saved, access denied to SLIMax Mgr directories, why?

This is the most common and the most annoying issue of Windows 8/8.1 and in some part Win 10

Permission issue, OSP 150 displayed, I can’t save config files, settings are not persistent or not saved, access denied to SLIMax Mgr directories, why?

Even though I am an administrator I am unable to access everything on my computer. please explain step-by-step for windows 8 what I need to do in order to get full access?

Basically you DON’T have the ownership of your hard drive where SLIMax Mgr Pro is installed, Read this FAQ from Microsoft:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2623670

Also, Windows Firewall, Antivirus or Windows User Account Control (UAC ) doesn’t allow SLIMax Manager to write into its directory or simply doesn’t allow the app to communicate with emulators or game or simulation

Check your Windows Firewall rules related to SLIMax Manager Pro exe (and sometime named by its description “Take The Control Of Your Gameware”). delete all rules before re-installing the manager.

disable UAC solves the problem (You must reboot your computer for the changes to take effect).
Keep the UAC activated with an installation on Program Files directory ..\Program Files (x86)\SLIMax Manager Pro\ seems to work as well (this is the default installation location).

see here how to disable UAC (it is strongly recommended that you turn off UAC   ):
Win 7
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3d1p9qe9co

Win 10
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnImAYTDc6w

This is applicable to Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, to solve your permission issue, install SLIMax Mgr Pro as Admin and run the app as administrator :

Need additional license after OS or ROM update?

DO NOT RESET YOUR ANDROID – DEDICATE YOUR TABLET TO THE EMU

Your license is no longer recognized after a reset or a major update of your Android System OS. Unfortunately, due to the design of this OS, this is normal.

We are sorry by this inconvenience. However, we will never ask you to reset or update your Android System and we recommend to dedicate your Android Phone/Tablet to your EMUlators.

A std OTA update from google usually not alter your Android EMU installation (it depends), We do not recommend to accept OTA our EMU works perfectly with Android v2.2.3 or greater.

NO, the update of VDASH-EMU does not change anything in your license and it remains valid. Installing the updates of VDASH-EMU over it is the correct process for updating your EMU and you will never loose your license by updating it with a new version.

Yes, the Android system update or phone / tablet change requires a new license called “Additional”

Yes, every additional PC / LAPTOP running  VDASH-EMU for Windows needs a VALID license called “Additional” to work at FULL SPEED with simulations or games

YES, you have LAG if you do not have a VALID licenses installed for all phone / tablet / PC using the VDASH-EMU on your LAN (you can use up to 4 VDASH-EMU simultaneously).

So do not reset your device! you don’t need to do that to run the EMU and before making a “bug/registration report” please, check if the serial number you registered matches the one you currently have… and if NOT get an “additional” license!

6 Setup And Configuration

How to use switch as encoder?

Since version 3.4.1 of SLIMax Manager you can use rotary switches as encoders.

The new SWITCH AS ENCODER feature works like this, really straightforward don’t worry:

Example with rFactor 2:
Imagine the Temporary Boost of rFactor 2 settings set with key q to increase value and w to dicrease value and you want to manage it with your switch 3 connected to your display device like the SLI-PRO or SIM RACE F1:

Edit your rFactor 2 SLI-PRO setup with Advanced Options
double-click the function switch3_as_encoder
enter key up/down = q/w
save

Example with iRacing McLaren MP4-30 and the switch 9 of SIM Race F1 device display:

Edit iRacing OPTIONS/Controls/Diff Entry Inc with D key
Edit iRacing OPTIONS/Controls/Diff Entry Dec with C key

2015-12-27_215710

Edit your SLIMax Manager Pro setup using Advanced Options Panel

SIMRACEF1 > switch9_as_encoder and enter D and C key and save

IMPORTANT:put the SWITCH 9 at position 0 ( ZERO ) before enter the track. The switch is calibrated the first time you use it, don’t touch the switch during calibration.

Why the ABS Effect not working with my Fanatec CSP?

FOR ALL ABS EFFECT Fanatic!! 🙂

fanatec_clubspot_pedal_v3 fanatec_clubspot_pedal_v2fanatec_clubspot_pedal_v1

The true ABS Effect works ONLY  with simulation or game API that provide a DYNAMIC status level of ABS like Live For Speed

if you try this effect with a STATIC value of ABS level (almost all sim/games), this will not be a TRUE ABS effect but it can be cool as well, give it a try and you will see… 😉

Need latest version 3.4.6.2 (or greater) of SLIMax Manager Pro and CSP (Fanatec Pedals Set V2/V3)

Important points to know about ABS Effect behavior:

  1. The ABS Effect needs a dynamic ABS Level value to work as A TRUE abs effect (Live For Speed provides this telemetry data for example)
  2. Activate the effect on other sim with static value result to vibrate the brake pedal when pressed and is called a “fake ABS Effect” but seems to be appreciated by Codemaster F1 fanboys 😉
  3. See the screenshots, the recommended value in Fanatec setup is 115 to 220 (135 to 200 is good) and obviously the setup must be selected

Using CSP setup

2016-11-03_133130

or using Fanatec base wheel setup

2016-10-24_162029

Notes:

SLIMax Manager Pro version prior to 3.4.6.4 have a potential bug which prevent to use the ABS Effect with your CSP if more than ONE controller is connected (the second controller can potentially reset to zero the ABS effect).

The simple workaround is to activate the ABS Effect on ALL CONTROLLERS settings and not just on CSP Controller settings.

iRacing COMBO SETUP behaviors included

2014-05-05_170810

For your convenience, SLIMax Manager is provided with a COMBO SETUP for iRacing simulation that choose automatically the right settings for you depending the car you drive. This can be very useful as the shiftlights method, Optimal Shiftpoints and other settings are selected automatically to reflect the engine specs but the disadvantage is that any settings change made with SLIMax Mgr (i.e. in Basic or Advanced Options… ) will be discarded in favor of the COMBO SETUP which use a script to supersede all other settings…

2 solutions:

1) No change, you are happy with the current iRacing Combo Setup, it is good enough for you

2) Disable iRacing Combo, don’t choose the setup named …_iracing_combo.cfg and go to “Select Devices Setups” menu and choose the default settings for your device and create your own. See how to create a custom setup step by step FAQ.

Dual Colors Shiftlights?

You don’t need a script to display a dual green/red or red/blue shiftlights,
1) open the Advanced panel,
2) set your SHIFTLIGHTS METHOD method to 2 (percentage)
3) double-click RPM THRESHOLD PERCENTAGE to see the sliders and just shift left all values and set blue led to zero

See the FAQ here to learn how to change RPM curve

 2014-05-05_171815

Here is 2 screenshots above with Cadillac cts-v with custom dual led green/red shiftlights in action.

Here is 4 QUICK screenshots of the iRacing Riley Daytona Prototype car with a custom dual led red/blue shiftlights in action.

Change RPM threshold value with percentage shiftlights method?

SLIMax Manager v2.1 or greater introduce a new way to enter your percentage value for Shiftlights method 2

1) open Advanced Options panel

2014-05-05_162043

2) select SHIFTLIGHTS > SHIFTLIGHTS_METHOD > percentage method 2

2014-05-05_163558

3) double-click RPM_THRESHOLD_PERCENTAGE tag or click the Edit Selection button to display the helper and change the RPM SHIFTLIGHTS CURVE  by using the sliders

2014-05-05_163945

2014-05-05_164004

4) don’t forget to Apply and Save your change

2014-05-05_164036

You can do the same thing with Absolute Method (3) using rpm value and not percentage.

Is it possible to have the gear showing with the limiter on?

Yes, open Advanced Options panel edit your setup and allow or disallow the Limiter char in Pit limiter section.

Manage left and right digits panels:

SLIMax Manager v2.1 or greater introduce a new wizard to chose with ease the information to display on left and right digits panel.

Open Advanced Options panel , section DISPLAY and double-click the left or right display functions (or click Edit Selection button):

2014-05-05_093710

Note: if you don’t have any switch connected to your SLI-PRO device, choose the function by default in position 1

To delete unwanted function, select last line and click the button ‘-‘ and button ‘+’ to add one.

Shiftlights method 2 and RPM Wizard Tips:

** This tutorial works only with the latest version of SLIMax Manager **

You have to select the percentage method and configure your RPM threshold values.

1) open Advanced Options panel and select
settings > SHIFTLIGHTS >  SHIFTLIGHTS METHOD and then enter value: 2

2014-05-05_163558

2) double-click RPM THRESHOLD PERCENTAGE tag to show the Wizard panel and change value with sliders

2014-05-05_164004

Check the presets to get a basic curve done quickly and then change the values with the sliders to suit your needs

Using the Button To char mapping wizard to simulate a keystroke:

OUTDATED
Read the updated FAQ here:

Fanatec Formula Rim buttons index to use with Buttons to keys (chars) mapping

We are going to use the new button to char mapping function (simulate a keystroke when pressing a button) included in SLIMax Manager using the wizard panel.

First download the latest version of SLIMax Manager (v2.2.0.5 or greater is required )
and follow the topic HERE to create a new custom settings for rFactor2 in our example.

1) open Advanced panel
2) select SLIPRO > BUTTONSCHARSMAPPING tag
3) set it to true
4) click APPLY button to apply your change
5) save your settings

6) now double-click the BTNCHARLIST tag to define the mapping

For our stupid example 😉 we are going to map button 3 to key ‘H’ to toggle ON/OFF headlights

7) when you double-click the BTNCHARSLIST tag a wizard panel show up and let you choose:
a) the button from 1 to 16
b) the key
c) the delay in ms
d) the modifier SHIFT or ALT or CTRL

8 ) in our example we use the key ‘H’, the default delay 200ms and no modifier
9) click OK to save your change
10) APPLY the change to the TAG and save settings file

Now pressing button 3 of your SLI-PRO device toggle ON/OFF headlights in rFactor2

Obviously, the button 3 MUST NOT be assigned in the rFactor 2 simulation to avoid any conflict.

Create a custom settings file step by step:

For this example of creation of custom setup we are going to make a settings file for iRacing :

1) open Advanced Options panel

2014-05-05_162043

2) choose the default settings of your device by clicking the device icon on top shelf.

 2014-05-05_165506

3) use the button export to save a copy of the current settings file
4) and give it a name

2014-05-05_094227

5)  do your change and select your new custom setup in “Select Devices Setups” menu

2014-05-05_165930

Notes: it could be necessary to select “Update Setup List” to see your custom setup in the setups menu

Codemasters DiRT 3 PATCH Beware!

Since the last update 1.2 of Codemasters DiRT3, all motion simulators and outgauge software are not working anymore (those using extradata=”1” – extended UDP packet with information needed for SLI Devices).

Beware, DO NOT UPDATE any more your Codies games or downgrade if possible to continue using your rig. We are waiting for a new patch that will fix it…

ATTENTION: DiRT Showdown 1.0 seems to be affected by this nasty bug!

LFS Hot Lap challenge not working, why?

Impossible, Live For Speed API doesn’t allow to use outgauge info in hot lap challenge mode.

F1 2011 wont display race position?

Unfortunately the position is not included in the poor Codemasters API v1 of F1 2010/2011 games. SLIMax Mgr will not be able to display it. Upgrade to F1 2012 or greater, the Codemasters API v2 is more complete and includes Position, KERS, DRS etc..

Load settings for my simulation?

To load settings for your current simulation, for example iRacing:

select the appropriate settings file  in “Select Devices Setups” menu.

2014-05-05_190918

Use switch to chars mapping to simulate a keystroke with Rotary Switch:

Example of creating a MACRO (sequence of keystrokes) with rotary switch 6:

Open Advanced Options panel and browse the SIM RACE F1 setup for example,

Select the tag SWITCH6_AXE6_ALLOWED and set it to true

2014-05-05_100400

and then double-click SWITCH 6 keys mapping list to assign  keystrokes to the positions of the switch (maximum 7 keys to each position of the switch)
again don’t forget to APPLY your change and SAVE.

CHECK YOUR DEVICE BEFORE POSTING IN FORUM:

Check if your device is connected properly before asking for support.

If your device isn’t connected properly contact your hardware supplier as this is typically a hardware/firmware issue.

We do not provide hardware/firmware support.

thanks for your understanding.

Use the SLI-PRO or the SIM RACE Deluxe or SIM RACE F1 configuration app to see if your firmware is ok

you should have:

Version 0.22 or 0.23

 AND NOT *BOOTLOADER*

SLI-PRO FIRMWARE ISSUE:

In Devices and Printers window, you should see SLI-PRO Interface and not bootloader

(bootloader usually means that you need to reinstall your firmware ).

  • – setup
  • – script

Attention: the package overwrites existing files if you have modified setups or scripts, do a backup before installing. Package can also be installed using “Install Package…” menu.

 2014-05-05_181653

IMPORTANT: you need to restart SLIMax Manager if you install new plugin and then ACTIVATE it.

Notes: since v3.1 of SLIMax Manager you no longer need to restart after plugins installation.

REMINDER: A package is also a ZIP container, to install manually a package change its extension .pkg to .zip and extract it like any zip archive.

** Plugins Updates are available to anyone from within SLIMax Mgr **
** Select menu “Check For Update” to get the latest plugins **

Getting Started with Codemasters Proxy Server

Fantastic tutorial available created by MrPix from http://www.projectimmersion.com/

A recommended watching to get started with Codemasters Proxy Server ( CMPS ) and if you own a motion simulator or any sim-racing device NON SUPPORTED by SLIMax Manager:

Configure Race Room Racing Experience (R3E) From Sector3 Studios

rrr3e_download

The configuration is pretty simple as the “shared memory” flag (allow sending data that contains car telemetry and contextual info) is already activated.

You just need to deactivated the Fanatec Native support if you own a Fanatec steering wheel, goto control settings and map any button or keyboard Key to Fanatec LED/Display function to be able to switch OFF the native management (press several time until OFF is displayed) and let SLIMax Manager takes the control of your Fanatec wheel LEDS/DISPLAY.

Due to a bad management or bugs, only the DIGITS are set to OFF not the shiftlights, you have to edit your ControlSet in c:\Users\-username-\Documents\MyGame\Simbin\Your configuration… and set the tag below to

G27 Led range low=”0.0″ // Min: 0.00, Max: 1.00, Default: 0.81
G27 Led range high=”0.0″ // Min: 0.00, Max: 1.00, Default: 0.96

Led Display Enabled=”0″ // Steering Wheel Led Display Enabled

Deactivate the native management of CSP rumble motors will also prevent SLIMax Manager Pro to use the motors!! which is not cool!
We hope the R3E Developers will add asap a simple bypass of the native management of LEDS/DIGITS/MOTORS …

2015-07-16_192143

Now to CAP Frame Rate!?
Well, it seems in current version of R3E that you can’t limit the FPS to give some CPU to all other apps running in background, this is a serious limitation of the simulation… For now we suggest to activate the VSync in video settings if your monitors is under 60Hz…

Disable native support of FANATEC and G27 of rFactor 2

Disable Fanatec (CSW or others) / G27 native support of rFactor 2 to use SLIMax Manager Pro:

You must QUIT rFactor 2 first

open your rFactor 2 profile in /Documents/rFactor 2 folder or for Steam version in your ../Steam/steamapps/rFactor 2 directory
open UserData/Controller
and edit your current Fanatec profile to change:

Use Additional Hardware Features=”1” // Whether to use additional hardware features like steering wheel LEDs
Hardware 3Digit Display=”1” // If hardware has 3-digit display, 0=off, 1=gear, 2=speed

to

Use Additional Hardware Features=”0” // Whether to use additional hardware features like steering wheel LEDs
Hardware 3Digit Display=”0” // If hardware has 3-digit display, 0=off, 1=gear, 2=speed

Attention, the rFactor 2 settings in latest version are inJSON format and to disable the native management of Fanatec LEDs you have to change:

“Use Additional Hardware Features”:true,
to

“Use Additional Hardware Features”:false,

When OSP (Optimal Shift Point) is triggered?

Why the first time I enter the track OSP isn’t triggered when gear 4 and beyond are engaged?

1) OSP by default start with gear 2 and don’t use the last gear (you can change this in setup)
2) OSP by default use the MAX FORWARD GEARS AT STARTUP  info to determine the max forward gears of current car (almost all simulations API does not provide this info)
3) At startup OSP works only with gear 2 and 3, excepted if you change the MAX FORWARD GEARS AT STARTUP in your setup because the simulation API doesn’t give us the number of gears of current car

Conclusion, if you want to have an OSP up and ready at startup, you have two choices:
1) you drive only ONE type of car so you can change MAX FORWARD GEARS AT STARTUP with a fixed value (i.e. using always F1 cars = 7 )
2) you drive more than one type of car (i.e. GT and F1 ), so when you go on the track engage all gears before leaving the stand

IMPORTANT:
rFactor 2 and Project CARS API provide the max forward gears info, so they are not affected.

Most common error with Simbin GTR2 and other Simbin games?

You need to change your PLR file (Simbin Profile) before using SLIMax Mgr and your USB device.
Search for “Write Shared Memory” and set it to “1“. see the Simbin section for more details.

For info:
the GTR2 Setup (PLR) is on .\GTR2\UserData\PLAYER\PLAYER.PLR

where PLAYER = your GTR2 player name

open this file with notepad.exe and follow FAQ instructions

Individual brightness mode usage:

Attention, individual brigthness mode is not recommended, use GLOBAL brightness instead.

Individual brightness is available with SLI-PRO and SLI-M device

Go to Advanced Options panel to edit your setup and change these settings:

2014-05-05_184841

1) you CANNOT have global and individual brightness set together,
go to Advanced Options panel and set GLOBAL BRIGHTNESS to 0 (zero) to deactivate it

2) Each tag below define, with a comma delimited list, the brightness value of each led in range 1 to 8.
SHIFTLIGHTS RPM BRIGHTNESS (13 entries),
MARSHALL LED BRIGHTNESS (6 entries)
EXTERNAL LED BRIGHTNESS (5 entries)

3) Gear digit and the left/right digits panels are defined with 1 value from 1 to 8
CENTRAL GEAR BRIGHTNESS (1 entry),
RIGHT DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS (left panel, 1 entry)
LEFT DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS (right panel, 1 entry)

4) Optional: calibrate your device brightness by adjusting the maximum brightness value from 128 to 220 (default 140)
To calibrate your device, Choose the ‘Test Device…’ menu and check if the device do not reset by itself during the testing process, if it does, decrease the maximum value (personally I use 180 for SLIM and 150 for SLI-PRO, just so you know…).

** Your device should not FREEZE OR RESET by itself during the test **
